Version 3, effective September 11, 2026. This policy covers the vehicle tools at check.riderite.us: the RideRite Health Check, Master Tech Review, Service Check-In, Service Access, and RideRite Watch. The riderite.us store has its own policies; this page is about what happens when you connect your Tesla to us.
Contact details you type. Your name, phone number, and email, so your report or authorization is tied to you and your appointment.
Vehicle data, with your approval. When you sign in through Tesla’s official Fleet API and approve access, we receive vehicle data: configuration and options, odometer, battery status, tire pressures, stored alerts, software version, and warranty status. The Health Check, Check-In and Master Tech Review are read-only and cannot change anything on your car. RideRite Watch also asks for the remote-command permission so its Controls card works; a command goes to the car only when you tap a button (see the Watch section). Location is a separate Tesla permission that is off by default in every one of our tools; it is only ever requested when you turn it on in Watch, it is never read without that permission, and it is never stored. We never see your Tesla password.
Authorization records. When you grant Service Access, we record the name you typed, the date and time, the internet address and browser it was submitted from, the terms version you agreed to, and your vehicle identification number, so both of us have proof of exactly what was authorized.
An activity log. Every report we pull and every action taken on a vehicle is written to a log with a timestamp and result.
To prepare and perform your service, to build the report you asked for (when you order a Master Tech Review, a RideRite technician reads your report to write it), and to keep an honest audit trail. That is the whole list. We do not sell your data, we do not share it for marketing, and we do not use it for advertising.
Watch is different from a one-time report in one honest way: it keeps checking. When you enable it, you approve Tesla’s stay-connected (offline access) permission, and we store an encrypted credential that lets Watch read your car without you present. With one more tap in your Tesla app (approving check.riderite.us), your car streams its readings and fault alerts to us itself through Tesla’s Fleet Telemetry, only when they change, and we stop checking it altogether apart from one daily token refresh and warranty read. Until that tap, checks run on a schedule, roughly every 30 minutes, reading the same data listed above, with one wake when you first connect and at most one daytime wake a day after that. A streaming car is never woken for monitoring.
Remote controls. Watch’s sign-in includes Tesla’s remote-command permission. The Controls card on your status page sends a command to your car only when you tap a button (lock, climate, charging, charge limit, charge port, frunk, trunk, windows, lights, horn, Sentry); Watch never sends a command on its own, not for an alert and not on a schedule. Every command is written to the activity log with its result. A car may need to be woken to receive a command you tap; that wake is the one exception to the never-woken rule above and only happens on your tap.
Location. Off by default. Watch does not hold the location permission until you switch it on from your status page, which sends you to Tesla’s own page to approve it. While it is on, Watch may read the car’s position only for features that say they need it; nothing on Watch reads it otherwise, and we never store it. Switch it off any time and that stops immediately; removing RideRite in the Tesla app removes the permission entirely.
Each check stores a small vitals row (charge level, range, odometer, tire pressures, software version, stored alerts) kept for about 13 months so trends like slow tire leaks and battery degradation can be computed, then deleted automatically. Alert emails we send you are queued and removed after delivery.
Canceling your subscription stops the checks and removes the stored credential for your car. You can cancel yourself at riderite.us/account. Removing RideRite in your Tesla app (Security and Privacy, Third-Party Apps) cuts our access instantly at any time, whether or not you cancel.
Vehicle reports are kept for 90 days and then delete themselves automatically. Temporary Tesla access credentials live for minutes to hours and are never long-term, except the encrypted Watch credential described above, which lives only while your car is on Watch; Service Access itself expires the same day, ten hours at most. Watch history rows are kept about 13 months. Authorization records are kept for seven years, because they are proof of what you approved. The activity log is kept permanently in our service records; you can request your complete copy at any time.
Your data is stored with the infrastructure providers that run our tools and business records (Cloudflare and Google). They process it on our behalf and do not use it for their own purposes. Tesla handles the sign-in on its own site and is the source of the vehicle data you approve.
Revoke our access at any moment in your Tesla app under Security and Privacy, Third-Party Apps. Ask for a copy of your report, your authorization record, or your complete activity log at any time. Ask us to delete your report early and we will, though authorization records are retained as proof of consent. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
